Sononaut worked with director Michael Tamman on this film for fashion brand Paul Smith. World Championship cyclist Ben Savage put their new range of suits to the ultimate test, bouncing and twisting his way around a Sonja Klaus-designed set at London’s Hauser & Wirth Gallery.

We started with rhythmic elements, crafted from recordings of real bike sounds to complement the imagery. When Tamman heard them, he asked if we could compose the track entirely of bike sounds.

We broke out the contact microphones and proceeded to create bass drums from hitting the tires with drum sticks, clinking percussive sounds from the chain, gear and brake levers, and drones made from taking a cello bow to the spokes.
